Maxon D&S II
Description
Maxon D&S II – Japan, Late 1970s–Early 1980s
Used Item
The Maxon D&S II (Distortion & Sustainer) is the second generation of Maxon’s fuzz/distortion pedal series, evolving from the original D&S with a slightly tighter low end and improved definition. Still inspired by the Big Muff Pi circuit, the D&S II retains the thick sustain and rich distortion of its predecessor while offering a more articulate response that suits both lead and rhythm playing.

Tone & Use
The D&S II delivers smooth, sustaining fuzz tones with a warm midrange presence. Compared to the original D&S, it has a slightly leaner bass response and better note clarity, making it a favourite for guitarists who want vintage fuzz character without losing too much definition in chord work. Its sustain knob can take you from gritty overdrive-like breakup to thick, violin-like leads.
