Orville SG-65 – Japan, 1994

Used Item

A stellar example of Japan’s ‘90s golden era of guitar manufacturing, the Orville SG-65 is a faithful and fiery take on the classic Gibson SG. Built in 1994 under Gibson’s official Japanese brand “Orville,” these instruments were crafted to an impressively high standard, offering vintage-correct specs with Japanese attention to detail.

The SG-65 features a slim, double-cut mahogany body and set neck, delivering the lightweight feel and snarling tone that defined countless rock records. The medium profile neck has a comfortable feel — not too thin, not too chunky — and the rosewood fretboard adds warmth and snap under your fingers. Equipped with a pair of powerful humbuckers and classic 3-way switching, the SG-65 dishes out everything from rich, creamy lead tones to biting, punky aggression.

All the aesthetics are right: small pickguard, keystone tuners, trapezoid inlays, and a gloss finish. Whether you're into ‘70s glam, garage rock, or Sabbath-style doom, this is an SG that does the job with style and punch.
